The Enhanced Edition contains over 75 hours of gameplay, including the original campaign, the classic Sword Coast expansion, plus brand new challenges in the Black Pits arena!Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is a remastered version of the original Baldur's Gate combined with its expansion Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast. Enhancements to the original games include cross-platform multiplayer, matchmaking functionality, support for higher resolutions and different viewing modes such as widescreen. The developer lists over 400 improvements over the original game, including cleaned up code. New content addedThere are also three new NPC characters that can join the party: the monk Rasaad yn Bashir, the wild mage Neera and the Blackguard (a new class) Dorn II-Khan. Each character has its own, additional quest line and (in the case of of Neera and Rasaad) also a new area. Through a patch, the developers later introduced the sorcerer Baeloth, antagonist of the Black Pits adventure, as fourth new NPC. However, he does not have any new content except dialogue. The original cinematics are replaced by new, hand-drawn cinematics directed by Nat Jones. There is also a new collection of player character voice sets. This new version supports downloadable content, it is opened up for modding and it incorporates an autoupdate function. Baldur's Gate The great sage Alaundo foretold the death of the god of murder, Bhaal, and many of his children. The prophet's words proved true, as always. Even before the cataclysmic period of the Time of Troubles, Bhaal saw his death approaching, and he forced himself upon the women of all the races of Faerűn, hoping to sire hosts through which he could rise again. In DR 1368, the children of the dead god are now reaching adulthood. Meanwhile, iron deficiency plagues the southern Sword Coast region. Ore from a local mine near Nashkel is soon rotting away after being smelted, rendering anything made from it, be it weapons or armour, useless. The resulting iron shortage makes iron objects more valuable than gold. Bandits litter the roads in an attempt to steal what is left from those who still have access. The state of Amn is being accused despite claims of their innocence, and war seems on the horizon as a young man from the Candlekeep library fortress is told to prepare for the journey. You take the role of the youth, and after witnessing the death of your father, Gorion, at the hands of a mysterious armoured figure, you embark on an adventure that will affect everything from the Sword Coast region to Baldur's Gate to Tethyr. Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword CoastThis add-on to Baldur's Gate contains new items, voices, abilities, and quests. This does not offer an extension to the main plot of the game but offers four new quests, all of which are very large and may take a few hours to complete. It adds new areas to the game world, including a town named Ulgoth's Beard and a large dungeon, Durlag Tower. The Black PitsThis edition adds a new adventure, The Black Pits. It is completely separate from the main game and features a new party. The player can use the six characters provided (including predefined behaviour scripts) or create completely new ones. The party is captured by Drow Baeloth, who runs a battle arena called The Black Pits in the Underdark. The heroes must survive several arena battles. In between battles, the player can use the reward money to buy additional equipment from vendors.
